Michael Fitzgerald’s worldview and practices have been profoundly influenced by the current movement in the field of psychology known as positive psychology which posits that mental and spiritual health are best cultivated by focusing on one's inherent strengths and abilities rather than solely seeking to eliminate disease and eradicate so-called weakness.
Dr. Fitzgerald is an expert psychotherapist, an avid writer, and accomplished performance-enhancement coach who has been pursuing his interests in the mind-body connection, sport psychology, and motivational interviewing for the past twenty years.

Growing up in the rural beauty of the northeastern U.S., he developed a love and passion for athletics and the outdoors as well as an appreciation for music and literature as sources of inspiration, continual creativity and spiritual renewal.
In pursuit of his dream to be a physician, Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Villanova where his liberal arts education afforded him an introduction to psychology, religion and philosophy. Additionally he participated in intramural athletics and served in the Big Brothers Association of America.
In addition to his studies of general medicine at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Dr. Fitzgerald took special interest in the role of spirituality in medicine and was again intrigued by the undeniable interconnection of human emotion, physical wellness, and personal and professional fulfillment and success.
Relocating to San Diego, California, for residency he received cutting-edge training in biologically based psychiatry from a world-renowned faculty as well as exceptional training in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. During these years he cultivated an interest in sports medicine and sport psychology, where he was mentored by a highly accomplished sport psychiatrist working with professional and Olympic athletes. Additionally, Dr. Fitzgerald further enhanced and informed his passion for wellness through mindfulness-based approaches, with training in traditional forms of meditation.
Having completed his professional training, and seeking an outlet for his creative energies, Dr. Fitzgerald has formed Myndflow, with a purpose of synthesizing his love of science and medicine with his passion for athletics and the ongoing pursuit of human peak performance.
